Consider Bardwell Farm To Cease Manufacturing and Selling Cheese

Consider Bardwell Farm, the award-winning raw cow and goat milk cheese producer based in West Pawlet, has announced that it will stop all manufacturing and selling activities after 15 years in business. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon on the creamery's social media channels. The company explained that its "current funds do not allow us to continue manufacturing and selling our cheeses."

In a personal highlight of Yappy Hour, our dog Layla was photographed by the Dogist.  But cocktail parties aren’t Layla’s thing and, although Friedman dropped to his knees to get the shot (“Layla, you got me on my knees, Layla,”), her big-time spirit doesn’t quite shine through. “is layla gonna b on the gram?” my niece texted from Philly.  I didn’t have the heart to tell her (and my newfound Dogist groupie self) that the odds were slim.

Drink Up: Vermontte

I was worried that the carrot juice would change the overall texture of the drink, but it was incorporated perfectly, and the earthy carrot flavor was the most unexpectedly pleasing of all the Vermonttes I tried.  Each of these four cafés — and the other participating shops I didn't make it to — will be pouring their Vermontte specials through Sunday, September 29.

My server, Sara Rooke, graduated last spring from St. Michael's College, where she majored in international relations.  “I love people,” she said. Rooke delivered my sandwich with a flair worthy of the little package of classic Italian-American flavors — garlic, parmesan, breading, red sauce — piled on my bread.  She stopped by to talk as I ate my meal, making me feel like I was part of the family.

Transformation is nothing new for Maglianero. The café opened in the basement of 47 Maple Street in 2011, originally inspired by underground spaces that shape culture as a sort of "anti-Starbucks," according to Jager.

People seemed to agree, as there was a steady line all night and Syp had sold out fully by 7:45 p.m. "I felt like I had to educate people about pierogi when I started, but people know about them now," she said. Syp is looking forward to increasing her pop-up nights at Barrio to include both the first and the third Mondays of the month, from 6 to 8 p.m. starting in October.

 At Leunig’s on Thursday, drinking my Major Jackson, I learned from the poet that a poem he wrote called “In Memory of Derek Alton Walcott,” a work that appears in the anthology,  “echoes and is inspired by Walcott’s elegy to Auden and Auden’s elegy to Yeats.” If Jackson’s poem makes a connection with literary figures who came before him, so does his drink.
