Nominations Open for Barbara Smail Award

Burlington City Arts is now accepting nominations for the 14th Barbara Smail Award, an arts prize awarded to a Vermont-based mid-career artist who "has a desire to expand his or her creative experience, has displayed enthusiastic support of his or her peers, and has been under-recognized in the community either through exhibition or other awards and programs."  The award was created in 2003 in memory of local painter Barbara Smail, who was a founding member of the Firehouse Gallery (now BCA Center).
