Burlington's Honey Road Restaurant and Chef Get James Beard Nod

Vermonter Deirdre Heekin of La Garagista, a farm and winery in Barnard, is a James Beard semifinalist for outstanding wine, beer or spirits professional. In recent years, several Vermont chefs were semifinalists for the prestigious award, including Eric Warnstedt and Jordan of Ware of Hen of the Wood in Waterbury and Burlington, Aaron Josinsky and Nathaniel Wade of Misery Loves Co. in Winooski, and Wesley Genovart of SoLo Farm & Table in South Londonderry.

USDA Again Suspends Slaughter Operation at Vermont Packinghouse

The suspension was the fifth one the USDA has imposed on Vermont Packinghouse since October 2016, according to information on the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service website. The online source lists "Humane Handling Enforcement Actions." The most recent sanction was not posted on the site.
